A good time to invest?

Barclays down THIRTY PERCENT on the day. Surely a third of its value can't be wiped out.

RBS down 28%

Free money, surely?

You could be right, Sidney no1. Which would you plump for out of Barclays, Lloyds or RBS?

From one Sidney to another, I agree with the sentiment but I am not sure your analysis of bank stock is fair. To say they are over priced because they 'should' have gone bust is a trifle odd and given the much stiffer BoE robustness tests they are much better capitalised than they were 8 years ago.

As I've said, are you investing (long term, owning an asset) or just speculating (taking a punt)

Re: Share prices
Be careful "having a little go".

Can you read balance sheets?

Do you know more than all the market with all the research knows, or is it likely they know more than you?

When you think you know something, what is it you are missing.

- Banking stocks probably overpriced because they should have gone bust and have trillions of liabilities and bullshit stated positions.

- Housebuilders probably overpriced due to 10x London earnings, 7x oxford and at historic highs only ever followed by crash.

Those 2 are the 'bargains', my advice (non legally binding ;-) ) says go for anything else.

Re: Share prices
Trade the binary option instead. Stake £100 for it to increase over, say 1/2 weeks and even a 1 pip upward move nets you a 80%+ profit

If it goes down though, you lose the ton. However seems a decent way for some quick profit?

I use share.com

Very easy. For the small timer like me. Advfn and iii, and lse are the share equivalent of this forum.

Re: Share prices
For quite some time I've wanted to open an account to buy (and sell) shares. Never had enough spare quid for it before but right now I feel like like to have a little go.
Is there an official website for these kind of things, i.e. for small time investors & is there any minimum limit to open account (e.g. 1k) ?

FTSE is recovering a lot of its losses, would be a massive statement if it managed to get into the black!

I would sit tight for a while if you have shares, but would buy some if you have money.

Re: Share prices
It was an absolute certainty that share prices would fall & markets would become volatile for a while if Brexit won
This was largely down to the prophets of doom & scaremongering by the remainers causing fear on the Stock Exchange
Share prices will continue to fluctuate over the coming months but will settle down, recover & probably improve

The Bankers are lining their pockets again.
The markets will settle down and recover; they always do.

Should have had a bit of bed and breakfast on your shares.

Haha put your alan's back on.

In the same industry and most talk this morning has been about risk management rather than thinking about making their own personal fortune.

Re: Share prices
Our share price opened massively down this morning based on last night's price, it's on the way back up now though and regained half it lost already.
